Will I be treated on the same day?
Is treatment carried out on the same day as my consultation?
Whether you can be treated on the same day as your consultation depends on the type and complexity of your condition.

Same-Day Minor Procedures
For many minor conditions, such as chalazion (eyelid cyst), eyelid lumps or bumps, or skin biopsies, it is often possible to proceed with a minor procedure on the same day as your consultation. These treatments are typically performed under local anaesthetic in a clean, safe environment and require minimal downtime. If you are insured and anticipate needing a minor procedure, please obtain an authorisation code from your insurer in advance, to avoid delays on the day of your appointment.

When Further Planning Is Required
For more complex surgery — such as blepharoplasty, eyelid reconstruction, tear duct surgery, or orbital surgery — treatment will be scheduled for a later date. In these cases, you will be provided with a detailed quotation following your consultation. This allows time for reflection on what was discussed at your consultation and for proper planning, including securing authorisation from your insurer if applicable.

Sedation or General Anaesthetic
If your procedure requires sedation or general anaesthetic (GA), a pre-assessment with the anaesthetic team is essential for your safety. This is standard practice and ensures that the surgery is performed under the safest possible conditions.

Additional Tests Before Treatment
In some cases, additional investigations may be needed before treatment can begin. These might include:
-
Blood tests
-
Imaging such as CT or MRI scans
-
Specialist referrals or opinions
All of this will be discussed during your consultation, and a clear plan will be made based on your individual needs.
